Charging

Where can I charge my vehicle?

The charging station map shows you all the charging points that you can access.

You can display the stations that are compatible with your vehicle by using the filters just above the map.

How long will it take me to charge my vehicle?

Charging time depends on several factors, including the vehicle's battery capacity and charging station power.

(Battery capacity) / (Charging station power)

Take the Renault Zoe, for example:

Battery capacity 22 kWh
Charging station power 11 kW
Calculation 22 / 11 = 2 hours

It takes 2 hours to charge a Renault Zoe at an 11 kW charging station.

Roaming

What is roaming?

Charging electric vehicles in roaming mode means that user can charge their vehicles at a charging station outside of their home network (located in the same country or abroad).

Using your evpass account, (depending on the kind of subscription you choose) roaming enables you to access all the public charging stations in Switzerland and more than 66,000 charging stations throughout Europe. This number is constantly rising, along with the growth of public charging networks.

Who can use roaming?

Access to roaming is reserved for subscription-paying "EXPLORER". To become a member, click here.

How to use roaming?

To start charging your vehicle, you just need to swipe your evpass card or badge over the charging station. You can also initiate charging using the evpass mobile app.

Is the SwissPass card compatible with roaming ?

The SwissPass cards are compatible with evpass. Technically, they also work on networks with which we have a roaming agreement. However it can happen that the charging stations of networks outside evpass are not compatible with the SwissPass cards. In this case, SwissPass users can use the evpass application to use the charging station.

How much does it cost to charge a vehicle with evpass roaming when you are abroad?

The cost of charging can vary a lot, depending on the country and the charging network.

evpass operates two pricing plans:

  • a pricing plan based on the power for charging on other networks inside Switzerland
  • a pricing plan based on the power for charging on other networks when abroad
Power ≤22 kW ≤80 kW >80 kW
On networks inside Switzerland CHF 0.15 / min CHF 0.50 / min CHF 1.15 / min
On networks outside Switzerland CHF 0.30 / min CHF 0.71 / min CHF 1.42 / min

These prices are subject to change without prior notice, depending on price changes on other charging networks. We advise you to always check the pricing terms and conditions on our website before charging your vehicle.

How can you get assistance when at a charging station when roaming?

You should contact the telephone number for assistance that is usually displayed on the charging station.

Instant reservation

Which stations can be reserved?

If a station can be reserved, you will see the "Reserve" button next to the station's picture.

How do I reserve a station?

If a station can be reserved, you will see the "Reserve" button next to the station's picture. You can choose the duration of your reservation, and the price will be calculated automatically.

You can see the details of your reservation at any time on your dashboard.

How much does a reservation cost?

The station operator is free to set the reservation price, as well as the fine that will be charged to users if they do not use the station that they have reserved. You can view the rate charged at each station via the station map, on the evpass website and in the mobile app.

Please note that parking costs are not included in the charging price.

Is it possible to cancel a reservation?

Yes. You can cancel your reservation at any time via your "Dashboard", provided that it has not already been terminated. You will be billed for your reservation on a pro-rata basis according to its duration, i.e. from the moment you reserve the station until you cancel your reservation.

evpass EXPRESS

Why is my vehicle not charging exactly at 160 kW on a 160 kW charging station?

Charging speed depends on several factors: the model of your vehicle, the type of battery, the state of charge of the battery, and the outdoor temperature, in particular.

Also, the recharging power is not constant, but changes according to the state of charge of the battery. Charging power will change, rising to a maximum threshold before falling again when the battery is fully charged.

Why not install charging stations more powerful than 160 kW? (For example 360 kW)

At the present time, there is practically no vehicle capable of recharging electricity so fast.

Why are penalty charges applied, 5 minutes after the end of my charge on evpass EXPRESS ?

In order to ensure the best service for our members, it is important that each user free up the space at the charging station as soon as his or her vehicle is charged. You can avoid this penalty by freeing up the space within minutes of the end of your charge.

Why am I not paying the exact price indicated on the EXPRESS rate plan?

Charging power fluctuates during the same charge. The price is calculated according to the power supplied. If it decreases, your price also drops. The final price is calculated based on the average charging power of your vehicle.

How fast will my car charge on evpass and evpass EXPRESS ?

Charging speed depends on several factors: the model of your vehicle, the type of battery, the state of charge of the battery, and the outdoor temperature, in particular.

To estimate charging time, divide the number of kWh lacking by the power of the charging station. Charging time (hours) = battery capacity (kWh) / charging power (kW)

Note that recharging power is not constant, but changes according to the state of charge of the battery. Charging power will change, rising to a maximum threshold before falling again when the battery is fully charged.

* We make every effort to ensure that the available information on evpass is kept up-to-date, as this does not happen automatically. Please comply with the parking rules that are in force.
